POPIA Compliance

Last updated: 29 October 2026

The Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) is South Africa's data protection law. It exists to protect exactly the kind of information grant recipients are most often tricked into giving away: ID numbers, phone numbers, banking details. Grant Africa was designed around POPIA from the first day: the safest data is the data that is never collected, so we collect none.

Our Position Under POPIA

  • We process no personal information. Grant Africa has no accounts, no registration, no comment forms, no application forms and no status-check forms. There is nowhere on this website to enter an ID number, a phone number or any other personal information.
  • Our tools run in your browser only. The SASSA Status Checker Helper shows steps and links to SASSA's official websites. It stores nothing, sends nothing and sees nothing about you or your grant.
  • We sell nothing and share nothing. With no personal information collected, there is nothing to sell, rent, trade or share with any third party.
  • We never ask for your details. Grant Africa will never ask you, on this site, by email, or anywhere else, for your ID number, phone number, SASSA PIN or banking details. Anyone who asks for those while claiming to be us is a scammer.

The Only Exception: Email You Send Us

If you choose to email us at info@grantafrica.co.za, we receive your email address and message so that we can reply. That is the only personal information that can ever reach us, it arrives only because you sent it, and we use it only to answer you. We do not add email senders to any list, and we delete correspondence when it is no longer needed.

Your Rights Under POPIA

Under POPIA, every South African has the right to:

  • be told what personal information an organisation holds about them;
  • access that information;
  • ask for it to be corrected, or deleted where the law allows;
  • object to the processing of their personal information;
  • complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa if they believe their personal information has been misused.

Because Grant Africa holds no personal information about its readers, these requests will almost always have nothing to act on, but we will always answer them properly and promptly.

Advertising And Cookies

If advertising is enabled on this site in future (through Google AdSense or Mediavine Journey), those partners may set advertising cookies under their own published policies. This is explained in our Privacy Policy and Cookies Policy. Advertising cookies are not personal information collected by Grant Africa, and we receive no reader identities from advertising partners.
