About Us

Grant Africa is an independent, South Africa-based information website run by a small local team of five people. We publish clear, plain-language guides for every type of SASSA grant, together with SASSA news as it happens, so that anyone who depends on a grant can find the right steps, the right dates and the right official links in one trusted place.

We are not SASSA, and we are not a government website. SASSA's own websites, sassa.gov.za and srd.sassa.gov.za, are the only official places to apply for a grant or to see your real application status. Our job is to explain, in simple language, how to use them.

Why You Can Trust Grant Africa

  • A named, local team. Grant Africa is made by five real people in South Africa, named on this page with their photographs and public LinkedIn profiles. There is no anonymous content farm behind this site.
  • Grant experience on the team. Our manager, Lindelwa Mzolo, worked in grant administration at SASSA on contract from 2013 to 2015. The person who approves every guide has handled grant processes from the inside.
  • Research you can check. Our researcher is a Research Fellow at the University of KwaZulu-Natal's Centre for Civil Society, and our fact checker is a PhD candidate and population studies researcher. Every date, amount and step is verified against official SASSA information before publishing.
  • Official sources only. Our guides are built from SASSA's official websites and official SASSA statements. If official information ever differs from a page on this site, the official information is correct, and we fix our page.
  • We collect no data, ever. There is no form on this site for your ID number, phone number or banking details, and there never will be. More on this below.
  • Corrections are welcomed. If you find a mistake, email info@grantafrica.co.za. Corrections sent in by readers are respected, checked against the official source, and fixed.

What We Publish

  • Status check guides: how to check your SRD R370 and grant status on the official portal, and what every status (Pending, Approved, Declined, Referred) means.
  • Payment dates: the confirmed SASSA payment dates for every grant type, updated the moment SASSA announces a change.
  • Grant guides: step-by-step explainers for the SRD R370, Older Persons, Disability, Child Support, Foster Child, Care Dependency, Grant-in-Aid and War Veterans grants.
  • SASSA news: announcements, changes and warnings that affect grant recipients, explained in plain language.

We Collect No Data, Ever

Grant Africa is fully aligned with POPIA, South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act. This website collects no personal information at all. There is no form on this site that asks for your ID number, your phone number, your banking details or any other personal information, and our status checker helper runs entirely in your own browser. It sends nothing to us. Read our full POPIA Compliance page and Privacy Policy for the details.

How Our Content Is Made

Every article on Grant Africa is researched, written and fact-checked by hand. Nothing is published here by a machine, and nothing goes live until it has passed through every step of our process:

1🔎

Researcher Finds The Topic

Danford Tafadzwa Chibvongodze

Our researcher finds the topic and researches it against official SASSA information and current announcements, so every guide starts from the official facts.

2✍️

Written With The Researcher

Bridget Sibanyoni

Our author writes the guide with the researcher present, so the facts and the wording stay accurate and clear from the first draft to the last.

3✓

Fact Checked

Robynn Hera

Our editor and fact checker verifies every date, amount, step and claim in the finished guide before it can move one step further.

4🛡️

Manager Approval

Lindelwa Mzolo

Our manager, who worked in grant administration at SASSA, reviews the checked guide and gives the final approval.

5📢

Published

Grant Africa

Only then is the guide published. When SASSA changes something, the guide goes back through the same checks and is updated.

How This Site Pays For Itself

Grant Africa is free to read, and it always will be. To cover the costs of running the website, we may show advertising on our pages in future through Google AdSense or Mediavine Journey. Advertising never changes what we write: our guides are researched and fact-checked the same way whether a page carries ads or not, and no advertiser can pay to change a fact on this site.
