SASSA Status Check
Grant Africa helps you check your SASSA status the safe way. Pick your grant below and we will show you the official steps, what your status means, and when you will be paid, all without ever asking for your ID number or phone number. Your real status lives only on SASSA's official websites, and that is exactly where we send you.
SASSA Status Checker Helper
Choose your grant and get the official check steps and payment date. No ID number. No phone number. No sign-up.
A Real Team : Researched By Hand
A researcher, an author, a fact checker and a manager work on every guide. No scraped pages and no copied text.
No Data Collected : Ever
We never ask for your ID number, phone number or any personal information, and we collect no data. Our site is fully aligned with POPIA.
Fact-Checked : Before Publishing
Every date, amount and step is verified against official SASSA information before our manager approves a page.
What Your Status Means
After you check on the official portal, you will see one of these statuses. Here is what each one means, and what to do next.
🕐 Pending
What it means: SASSA is still processing your application or your monthly check. Nothing has gone wrong. Your outcome is simply not ready yet.
Your next step: Wait a few days, then check again on the official portal. Keep the phone number you applied with active, because SASSA sends your notices to it.
✅ Approved
What it means: Your grant, or that month's SRD outcome, has been approved and a payment will be made.
Your next step: Check your payment date. For SRD, your payday is personal to you and appears with your approved status on the official portal. There is no single payday for everyone.
❌ Declined
What it means: That application or monthly check did not pass. For example, income was found in the bank account linked to your ID, or your details could not be verified.
Your next step: You can appeal on the official SRD portal at srd.sassa.gov.za. SRD appeals work month by month, so appeal for each month that was declined.
🔎 Referred
What it means: Your application was flagged for extra verification, for example a check against other government databases or a fraud-risk check.
Your next step: Follow the instructions shown on the official portal and respond to any SASSA notice you receive. Keep your ID document and the phone number you applied with ready.
SASSA Payment Dates: November 2026
SASSA moved this payment cycle in its statement of 14 October 2026, because Wednesday 4 November 2026 is a local government election public holiday. These are the revised, official dates:
| Grant | Payment Date |
|---|---|
| Older Persons Grant | Friday, 30 October 2026 |
| Disability Grant | Monday, 2 November 2026 |
| Children's Grants | Tuesday, 3 November 2026 |
| Grants Under Review | Thursday, 5 November 2026 |
SRD R370: there is no single payday. Your payment date is personal and appears with your own approved status on the official SRD portal.
Your money stays in your account after payday. There is no need to queue or withdraw on the first day. Source: SASSA, sassa.gov.za.
About Grant Africa
Grant Africa is an independent South African website. We are not SASSA and we are not a government site. A small local team publishes plain-language guides for every type of SASSA grant, from the SRD R370 to the Older Persons, Disability, Child Support, Foster Child, Care Dependency, Grant-in-Aid and War Veterans grants, together with SASSA news as it happens. Every guide follows the same process: our researcher finds the topic, our author writes it with the researcher, our editor and fact checker verifies every fact, and our manager, who has worked in grant administration at SASSA, gives the final approval.
